After the sale of their house (in which Dot and her husband had lived for 40 years) they had some handy money in their account. Dot and her husband decided to reserve a portion for the occasional trip and luxury purchases and safely invest the rest.

Their bank made numerous proposals to invest their money with a slightly higher return. “None of their proposals felt right.” says Dot. “With a mix of shares and bonds, the possible return is indeed much higher than bank savings, but so are the risks. And my husband and I do not want to run a real risk with our money.”
